Phoenix Pyrolysis

Team Phoenix is a startup that is planting and managing high growth Paulownia Elongata plantations for CO2 absorption and bioenergy production.  We process approximately half of the standing forest in our proprietary modified gasifier technology to produce durable biochar and bio energy.  The other half of the forest is left growing and managed for continuous CO2 absorption and biochar production from residue.  The entire system is carbon negative and produces biochar that is chemically stable for greater than 100 years. The Paulownia Elongata is on a short cycle harvest period of 2 years so CO2 absorption and biomass production is continuous, high capacity and stable.  We are also seeking to manage a 7-hectare Redwood forest which can naturally retain CO2 for greater than 100 years.

The biochar is approximately 80% durable carbon and is of high value in the agricultural sector as a soil amendment and as material in the building sector.  The energy produced from the heat and cogeneration of syngas during the pyrolysis process is used to mine crypto currency to offset costs of the plantation and provide clean energy to rural areas.  We are also selling our gasifiers to offset costs, reduce indirect CO2 emissions and provide opportunity for farmers and entrepreneurs.
