In Brazil's Central Amazonian Basin scientists have studied how these farmers, for thousands of years, have created rich soil to support microbial life and improve their crop yields. Their secret is a principle called Terra Preta. Today companies use technology to create a modern version of terra preta. It's called Biochar.
